MARK OUT YOURS

 Hullo lovely.

Today is another beautiful gift that we are given, not by merit, but by the overwhelming love of God. And, I believe it will be a token of appreciation to God if we use it wisely. Choosing to read this post is assuredly a wise action of spending today wisely, because you’ll definitely be blessed.

 Now, let’s roll!

Before you continue reading this post, I want to ask you this question and would love if you answered sincerely: who are you? Ok. Now pen down what comes to mind immediately.

Are you satisfied with what you wrote down, or you were blank with the question? If you are blank or unsatisfied, then carefully read this post.

A lot of people don’t really have a concise answer of who they are. There’s this issue of identity crisis. I got the shock that I didn’t know my identity through an event that occurred between me and one of my roommates in my early undergraduate years. That fateful morning, we had a misunderstanding, and then, out of anger she blurted: who are you?

I was blank. I couldn’t give any reply. I did not know my identity!

Then I began to search in my spirit: who am I?

Your identity is beyond your maiden name or first name. It’s who you are. It’s your purpose.

People don’t know who they are because they never bothered to know in the first place, and because nothing has triggered the question in them. I was lucky that day that something triggered the search for my identity. Many people haven’t been that lucky. As a Christian, have you ever asked the Holy Spirit to reveal who you are to you? Jesus knew His identity, so He did not have to prove anything to the devil when he said “if you are the son of God, command these stones to turn to bread.” Matt 4:3

When you know and are sure of your identity, you don’t need to start proving yourself. You’ll definitely shine in your uniqueness as you fulfill God’s purpose for your life, not by comparing yourself with others and competing with them.

Many of God’s children run another’s race because of the problem of ‘identity’. There is a whole lot of unhealthy competition going on today, in the world and in the church. And we don’t even know we are deep into this unwholesome vogue of competition in the church. For many, it’s a sub-conscious action.

It’s time we stopped being oblivious of who we are, complacent and unhealthily competing. The Holy Spirit opened my eyes to some things in this bible verse:

“You’re blessed when you can show people how to co-operate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.” Matthew 5:9

Here are some tips to discovering your identity:

Let the Holy Spirit reveal who you are to you: we’ve got individual differences which make up our uniqueness; that’s how God made it. He created diversities, it’s actually more fun. Imagine a world where we all do the same things the same ways. It’s going to be a dreadful monotonous cycle. Settle down with the Holy Spirit to know what God is saying about you. Let Him show you what you’re meant for, your identity so you can fulfill your purpose.

In any place you find yourself, don’t be apt to be like someone, be like the Holy Spirit. BE YOURSELF. Of course, you have to know yourself to be yourself. Again I’ll emphasize this: SETTLE WITH GOD; LET HIM REVEAL TO YOU WHO YOU ARE.

Learn to cooperate with others, and show people to co-operate: you cannot give what you don’t have. If you don’ know how to get along with others, you can’t tell others to do so.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation when you try to outshine others by all means? If it happens frequently, then you should know that there issue of identity crisis you need to address.

Sorry dear, but that’s true.

The body is made up of different parts; different cells making up a tissue, different tissues making up an organ, organs making up a system and various systems making the body. The eyes and ears serve different purposes but are equally important.

Now, imagine the eye had identity crisis and competes with the ears, trying to outshine it, there’s going to be a big problem.

Naturally, your uniqueness makes you to stand out, so why work so hard at trying to outshine others rather than working hard at being yourself, basking in God’s glory of your uniqueness? BE YOURSELF

Wrapping it up, currently, there are about 7 billion people in the world, and each person has a unique fingerprint; no two alike. This is a pointer to the fact that God masterminded it that there are unique purposes to be manifested in 7 billion ways.
