If I didn't have my eyes, what would I do differently?

It's a blessing to be able to see the beautiful sights and wonders of nature; the blue sky, the blue sea, the radiant rainbow, the cute puppy, the brightly colored flowers, the colorful peacock, the dashing young guy and flawless-skinned lady. It's all a bounty of glamour.

The eye is a blessing๐Ÿ˜Š

But, here's the irony: the eye is also a potent seductress to wrong decisions and judgement.

Let's do some memory exercise here; do you remember any decision you would have avoided or made if you didn't have your eyes? When last did you make a genuine decision or done a genuine act from your heart?

There was a time I met with some blind people. I noticed something about them: they were joyful, not necessarily trying to impress people. They just want to express themselves. They are not concerned with what you think of the them, but are content to have people around them and spend time with them.

Personally, I have a list of things I would do differently if I didn't have my eyes:

1. Expression, not impression

"Do not be concerned with what people think about you, simply trust in the Lord, nad you will be safe."

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, never rely on what you think you know." Proverbs 3:5 GNV

We tend to read people's expression to know what they think about us, and if they notice what is being done by us currently. I strongly believe that the best version of myself is when I just do my own thing and not trying to impress others. Infact, that kind of thing turns out to be unique, and beautiful because it is genuine.

This is a world where everyone wants to impress others, infact 'oppress' others. The social media is a very good platform where everyone just wants to impress: show others what has been accomplished.

There was a time one of my friends went into anxious mood because she felt that she hasn't really a achieved much in life compared to the things some of her friends had after seeing some posts and pictures about their achievements.

I think that concerning the issue of social media, a larger percentage of people that have peace of mind are the blind! Because they don't even see in the first place, not to talk of unnecessarily getting worked up over another person's achievements.

Just do your own thing, be your own version when doing things. Don't get worked up about others achievements that you now lost yourself in the quest of doing so.

I'd get real. I'd express.

Safe from anxiety of what you've not become, safe from the habaloo of the lies and pretenses of the social media, safe from the error of being concerned with what others think.

2. I wouldn't judge people based on false premises.

There are two things that usually guide us in the decisions we make; the head or the heart. The eyes connect with the head.

Also, we tend to judge people based on what we see. Jesus said " judge not, that ye might not be judged."

If we get closer to people, we'd really know who they are and what they're passing through. But a distant condemnation or appraisal  is not good enough. We may be doing the wrong thing, and God is not pleased with it.

The blind don't see, so they can't judge on sight perception. Rather they connect to people with their hearts. The inner sense of sight is far sharpened  the outside.

The eyes are good and wonderful gifts from God, but don't allow them misguide you into doing what isn't godly.

I'm grateful I have my eyes, but I should be careful how I make use of my sight

The eye is like light to the body

But lo, it's like iceberg to the Titanic of many

It's function is to give illumination

Be careful, lest it brings painful consternation

Before you take that decision, ask yourself: would I do this differently if I didn't have my eyes.

Parting with this: our eyes are meant to be trained under the guide of God's word and the Holy Spirit, so that what God gave to us as blessing, will not have it's purpose thwarted.

I want to say a big thank you to you guys for showing me love on my birthday 28/10/2020. Thanks, it's heartfelt ๐Ÿ’–

If Jesus tarries in His coming, see you next week.
