What about Nov 14?

 Today is World Sexual Purity Day; November 14

Does that ring any bell??

I was about to put it up on my WhatsApp status today when I paused to reflect.....

What is the meaning of sexual purity? I mean what is the exact meaning of the context?

Is there any standard for measuring sexual purity?

For many, sexual purity is subjective. And the devil has sold out the lie that being involved in pornography, masturbation, fondling, incessant dirty imaginations is no big deal, once there's no sexual intercourse. 

But God has His own definition of sexual purity:

"Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual and illicit sex." Hebrews 13:4 MSG

Sexual purity is wholesome; involving the spirit, soul and body.

"Things that are pure, godly, noble, worthy of praise.......think about these things."

Darling, the Holy Spirit can give that wholesomeness!

God created us to be sexual beings; ".......He created them male and female."(extract from Genesis 1:26-29). At puberty, there are some hormones in us that develop into maturity which makes us to be aware of our sexuality. Of course, it can be a medical concern if a young man or woman above 18 years of age has never had any experience of sexual urge. 

But it's also our responsibility with the help of the Holy Spirit to guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy, physically and mentally.

When I was a growing teenager, I used to read romance novel, or let's say passion books; I read anything then though. But what I discovered was that my thoughts were unwholesome and was like that for some time. I was already a growing Christian. Then, the Holy Spirit instructed me to stop reading them. He wanted to take full reins of my thoughts and imaginations. I remember there was a book a friend lent me back then; I had to return the book. 

There was a time I was studying the book of Songs of Solomon.

"How handsome you are, my beloved!

Oh, how charming!

And our bed is verdant" Solomon 3:16

Bed is a place of intimacy. Verdant means fresh and green.

The rule still holds for every genuine child of God: NO COOKIE before marraige ( if you're not married though), and perhaps there has been cookie(s), then it's got to stop if you want the Holy Spirit to comfortably dwell in you, your thoughts and your imaginations. If married, be content to drink from your own cistern. God also desires that the bed is verdant.  For the married, keep the love ALIVE and everything that comes with it: communication, excitement, tenderness, sensitiveness, passion, empathy. Keep it all alive, EVERYDAY.

For Christ and His children, the secret place is the bed. It must be continually fresh and green.

No unwelcomed guest is allowed. Nothing must share our intimacy with Christ.....
