Some secrets in the Book of Esther

 Hello handsome/beautiful πŸ™‹

Being a while we've rubbed minds together.

I believe you are good and the boat is not too rocky.

So, today, we would be discussing something very interesting. Every 14th of February is widely celebrated as lovers day. St Valentine's day will always be celebrated; a day of roses, chocolate boxes (well, money boxes are trending now), exchange of cards and other gifts between lovers and loved ones. People celebrate their love lives, even if it hadn't been that way before, this day is special.

Many unengaged, especially women are anticipating the day their Prince Charming would sweep them off their feet. The internet taunt makes it worse on that day:

                     'Valentine is coming

                  Where is your boyfriend?'

But surprisingly, the irony is this: there are people who will file for divorce that same day; people who wants to say 'adios' to their conjugal bliss.

The object of anticipation of some is the fustration of others.

There is a book in the bible I would like us to examine. It is the book of Esther, and we will examining it in the next  posts.

There are some interesting characters in the book of Esther who has taught us some important lessons about life and love.

King Xerxes was a man of influence and affluence. He ruled one hundred and twenty-seven provinces from India to Ethiopia, more like from Asia to Africa.

King Xerxes was a lot of things:

He was a man

He was a royalty

He was an authority

He was fashionable

He was sociable

He was a man of class and calibre

King Xerxes was a lot of admirable things, but there was one more important thing...... he was a husband; Vashti's husband.

It was as a result of Vashti's union with Xerxes that made her a queen. Queen is the title of female rulers: wives of kings. According to record, she was extremely good-looking, she was fair to behold - a queen indeed in beauty. And Xerxes was proud of her beauty.

"On the seventh day of the party, the king, high on the wine, ordered the seven eunuchs who were his personal servants ( Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar and Carcas) to bring him Queen Vashti, resplendent in her royal crown. He wanted to show off her beauty to the guests and officials. She was extremely good-looking." Esther 1:10-11 (MSG)

But Queen Vashti refused to come, refused the summons delivered by the eunuchs.

Queen Vashti's marraige ended on a day of 'national' celebration. Why?

To many anticipating a beautiful conjugal bliss, sealed before a crowd of witnesses when they'll say 'I do' to the 'amor' of their lives, there are some salient things that needs to be understood, but sadly are not properly addressed.

Nature thrives on principles. For example, photosynthesis takes place with three important things: light, water and chlorophyll. Queen Vashti didn't understand some key things which eventually led to the crumbling of her marraige:

Principle of Unity: It struck me as I read the book of Esther 1:9 (MSG) " Meanwhile, Queen Vashti was throwing a separate party for women inside King Xerxes' royal palace."

              'separate party'

Why throw a separate party? A lot of things could have been happening underneath that could have tampered with Queen's Vashti's emotions that made her to turn down his request.

There is power in unity.  You know, many marraiges crumble because there is no unity; unity of mind, intentions, values, purpose, direction.

Don't marry someone you would not be able to unite with. It is advisable that you don't even start the relationship in the first place. Excitement of love should not blindfold reality.

" Can two walk together, unless they agree?" Amos 3:3

The bible established this to make us realize the power in unity.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good (more satisfying ) reward for their labor."

A guy or lady that is used to doing things independently and anticipating a successful marraige should start adjusting the mindset to that which can accommodate the  partner.

" And they shall become one flesh"

Someone might say " we think differently, his values are not same as mine, we have different purposes......" These are things to address before marraige.

Note this: if your sources of authority are different, you can never be united. Don't ignore the red light!

The correct source of authority is Christ, and the constitution is the Bible. But are you aware of this yourself? What you don't know, you can't note. How much do you know Christ and the 'Constitution'?

So princess, before you walk down the aisle, your dad proudly holding your arms with soft orchestra playing in the background, looking at the handsome figure you are about to be joined with for the rest of your life, are you ready to be united with him?

Prince, before you say 'I do' to the damsel wearing the beautiful white gown, looking stunning and gorgeous, are you ready to be united with her?

And finally, are you united to the Holy Spirit or are separate from Him? Unity with Him is what will keep your union with Him.

Selah.

Meet you in the next post
