"It's a lie"

"No, Foluke, tell me you've never had a boyfriend?"

Foluke shrugged.

There was a roar of laughter in the room among Foluke's friends.

"So, that means you've never even had your first kiss" Stephanie asked, arms akimbo.

"Well, something like that" Foluke answered, averting her gaze from that of her friend.

"Something like that or yes?" Chinwe asked.

"Hmm, yes" Foluke answered. She was already becoming nervous about her friends' questions.

"Wait a minute, are you not clocking twenty-two next month?" Chinwe questioned Foluke again.

Foluke didn't answer this time. She already knew where the conversation was heading. Many times, her friends had asked her to introduce her boyfriend to them, but she was always coming up with one excuse or the other for her imaginary boyfriend. She knew she had been lying to them to just feel among, and had always been asking for forgiveness from God after each occurrence. Today, she just had to open up to them.

And the question she dreaded was asked:

"Are you still a virgin?" Stephanie was on this one.

No response.

"E-weeeee!" Chinwe exclaimed as she roared out in laughter, rolling on the bed where she had sat in the room.

"Little wonder she's always making up for her 'boyfriend' " Stephanie said as she made a gesture with her index and middle finger. "But tell us, seriously, what's stopping you from having a boyfriend?"

Foluke searched inward before answering the question.

"I don't want to do trial and error by running test of various men. I want God's perfect will for my life , and that is what I'm still waiting for."

Chinwe and Stephanie were staring at her as if they just met a weirdo.

"You know you are cheating yourself out of the fun of life. You need a man that's going to treat you as a woman and who will meet your needs.

It's very weird that you're still a virgin at this age.....I mean you've not even had your first kiss...."

Stephanie cut in " we love you, and won't see a pit and tell you to jump into it. Loose yourself from the bondage of religion you've put yourself into. Jesus loves us too, and we're still enjoying life. So, wake up girl."

Foluke became confused. She got born again when she got into 100 level in the university. She had been in a boarding house in secondary school, and had promised to enjoy her life to the fullest when she got into higher institution. She was not going to have any restrictions for herself. Little did she know that God had other plans for her. She had met Christ and got saved at a music concert organized by the christian FYB (Final Year Brethren). 

She's now in 200 level and had kept herself pure for the Lord; convinced that her body is His temple.

But now, after this conversation with her friends, she was confused..........

Are you beginning to get confused too?

I believe the Holy Spirit has started dropping some things in your heart.

The devil offers the children of God lies that they are in bondage and deprived of the fun of life when they decide to live for God. Infact, he places people around you to make you feel like a weirdo.

It's only a mirage!

Yours may not be like that of Foluke, but there are circumstances that makes you feel like a fool deprived of the excitement of life.

Understand this; the best life you could live us your life in Christ.

So, don't lose hold of it.

Cherish it with all your heart.

Laugh at the devil in the face and say: "all what you're trying to offer me is only a mirage. Because lines have fallen for me in pleasant pleasant places, and surely I have a delightful inheritance!"

You're in the right place darling.

Don't let the devil pull you out.
